
Lottie Whalen is a writer, researcher and curator whose work explores the intersections of art, culture, heritage and social history.
Her first book, Radicals and Rogues: the Women Who Made New York Modern, with Reaktion Books in October 2023, followed by its US publication by the University of Chicago Press in December 2023.
She co-runs Decorating Dissidence, an interdisciplinary arts project that explores how craft and decoration shape culture. Alongside her writing and research, she works as a curator, using archives and heritage collections to uncover overlooked stories and open up new perspectives on shared histories.
Her curatorial and heritage work has included collaborations with organisations including Historic Environment Scotland, Women’s Pioneer Housing and Empower Women for Change, where she led the Thistles and Dandelions project, bringing together heritage, creative practice and community participation.
